Construction Process
SITE PLAN
Projects always begin with a vision and a plan in mind, either from you, a landscape designer, custom home builder or North Dallas Landscaping Company.
EXCAVATION, GRADING AND FORMING
The site is then excavated and graded according to plan making sure that all soil and drainage specifications are met. Steps are taken to ensure site drainage is done correctly. 4″ straight-wall pipes are used on all residential projects and 6″ to 12″ systems are installed for apartment complexes.
Next, form boards are used to define the contour of the installation, add a sand bedding and lay a steel rebar grid to reinforce the concrete and maintain stability against expansive and contractive soil and climate conditions.
CONCRETE POURING
Concrete suppliers are highly valued and can attest to the quality of mix. Typical pours are to a depth of 4″ with a minimum of 3,000 psi concrete. Additional thickness can be added to specification for special driveway considerations. Load-bearing requirements are taken seriously and previous engineering experience is used when designing footings for heavy structures, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, overhead structure supports, etc. When needed, coverings are used to protect structures, grass and plantings.
COLORING, PATTERN STAMPING OR TEXTURING
When pouring the concrete, the selected color is added in the surface of the concrete. Then a release color is added and the chosen pattern or texture is applied. Over the next 10 to 28 working days, the concrete is left to cure. During this time, only the release color is visible.
When your concrete has cured, we will return to wash the stamped or textured surface to reveal your chosen color pallet. The coloring is then highlighted and refined to your satisfaction, after which a curing and sealing compound is applied to enhance and preserve the surface and its coloring.
